Day 4

I found the section on user reviews in the article, Three Stars and a Chili Pepper: Social Software, Folksonomy, and User Reviews in the College Context, very interesting. I myself often look at user reviews when buying something, before trying a new store or restaurant or even making a recipe. I enjoy this feature of the web and use it a lot. However, I never really think about how the negative reviews affect the different businesses or people. One bad review could keep away a lot of people from a restaurant. You don't; however, know who is writing the review. Maybe you don't have the same taste as that person and might love the restaurant. Yet, now you might not try it. It just makes me think about both the positive and negative sides to user reviews.

Day 3 - Digital Storytelling

I think digital storytelling is a great way for both teachers and students to share information. It is much more exciting than your typical powerpoint. I think it will keep kids engaged while they are learning and when they are sharing what they have learned.

Day 2 Articles

I read the article, What Has Podcasting Done for You? Great Things Often Begin in Small Ways by Jim Moulton. I love the idea of the students using podcasts to record morning announcements, etc. I think its great for students to get involved in these type of activities, so they feel that they are contributing at school and also get to learn some new technology. I also agree that the students may be more likely to pay attention during announcements if they are unsure who is speaking and/or if it is a friend/classmate. The High School started posting a video once a week of students reporting the news. It has been a big hit amongst the student population.
